NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD FRINGE SANDALS
Tuesday, May 22, 2012
If you're as on top of things as I think you should be, The Zoe Report should be sitting in your inbox about now.
I was more than pleasantly surprised to find one of my favorite footwear designer's gorgeous SS/12 fringe delight upon opening todays TZR, which was completed to a tea with suggestions on what to pair with colorful statement shoes for spring - in this case, Zoe suggested a white peplum top, pencil skirt and deep blue clutch as a compliment to such amazing footwear.
And amazing it is. Thick luxurious fringe trim, eloquently accompanied by a baroque-esque print and leather detailing.
Seriously, does it get better than that? No.
You can find the original posting on The Zoe Report and more of Nicholas Kirkwood's brilliant designs here.
SONGSTRESS STYLE: KIMBRA
I'm no stranger to sultry female musicians. In fact, If I had to guess, I'd say at least a good 75% of my itunes playlist leans toward the female gender. Maybe it's my angry, angsty girl issues. Either way, Kimbra won't be someone you'll soon forget. (or used to know - ha..) You may know her best from Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" but I feel I must warn you, this won't be the last time you hear or see her.
With a beautiful voice somewhere between Amy Winehouse and Adele, and an artistic and colorful personal style that combines the fierceness of Lady Gaga with the collective tastefulness of Florence Welch - how could she possible not make it in this industry?!

DIY GEOMETRIC SCULPTURE
Gather your friends together for crafting and drinks. This project is amazing, but quite an undertaking. I really appreciate that they created a video with step by step instructions - which is perfect for someone who is as impatient and terrible at directions as me! You can find the tutorial HERE.
NEPALI HANGING DECORATIONS
So, I'm completely in love with OhHappyDay. How I've managed to live my life up until now without this amazing blog is beyond me. Do yourself a favor and check out a few of her other delightful creations (and also - Fruit Balloons) that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. These adorable NEPALI HANGING DECORATIONS are no exception. How much fun would these be at your next party?
HANDMADE BIRD-MOBILE
How stinkin' cute is this? Mobiles aren't just for children any more. Hell, I'd totally hang one of these above my bed. The birds consist of two pieces of fabric that you hand sew together, which is incredibly easy. You can find more about this project HERE and the pattern HERE
POM POM ANIMAL PIN CUSHION
For the seamstress in your life! This idea is so fun. I mean honestly, look at it. My sewing machine has been pleading with me up in the attic for attention. I feel like this is just another sign from the sewing gods that I need to get it back down. You can find the tutorial for this brilliant bit of pom pom goodness HERE.
DIY FRUIT BALLOONS
A fruit party! What a good idea! Brilliant craft goddess Brittany Watson Jepsen of The House That Lars Built created this whimsical little decoration for OhHappyDay and what a happy day it will be if you have these in your home!
NASHVILLE'S MOST PINTERESTING PEOPLE
Thursday, May 17, 2012
If you're looking for a little local inspiration, then look no further! I've combed the inter-webz for the most "Pinteresting" Nashville blogs, brands and people for your viewing pleasure.
Soak it up.
Pennyweight is one of my favorite Nashville bloggers and was recently the host of an adorable event put on by West Elm & Etsy. Check out photos from the event HERE. Pinterest: HERE
Hannah Jones of JAMIE AND THE JONES is amazingly talented. In addition to being talented, she has GREAT taste. I really love how she color coordinates her Pinterest boards. Too cute. Find her Pinterest HERE.
imogene + willie
While we're off dealing with dumb every day life things, the brainiacs at imogene + willie are creating denim masterpieces that will one day save humanity. You think I'm kidding? Visit them on PINTEREST to see what they find inspiring.
If you're an East Nashville local and you haven't already visited OMG at least twelve times, then - well, we just can't be friends. Whether you need an outfit for a date night, a refinished antique cabinet, or a vintage Ouija board - Old Made Good has your ass covered. I used ass in this instance just because I know the lovely ladies who work there have a penchant for potty mouthed art and jewelry along with an appreciation of foul humor.
Lindsay Timberlake of TODAY I'M WEARING is a long standing friend and a beautiful and stylish inspiration. If you haven't already noticed. Find her Pinterest HERE and check out her BLOG for more!
