THEY DONT LOVE YOU LIKE I LOVE YOU

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

So I want to talk about something serious. Love. What can be said of love?

Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud. Love is not self seeking or easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in wrong, but it delights in the truth. It will always protect and always trust. It will always hope, and will always persevere. Love never fails.
Excerpt from Corinthians

There's beauty in the silver singing river, There's  beauty in the sunrise in the sky, But none of these and nothing else can match the beauty, That I remember in my  true love's eyes.
Bob Dylan

I Love him to hell and back and heaven and back, and have and do and will.
Sylvia Plath

You know that when I hate you, it is because I love you to a point of passion that unhinges my soul.
Julie de Lespinasse

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
Rumi

To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.
Oscar Wilde

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT VALENTINES DAY:

Sunday, February 12, 2012

V-Day has become one of my favorite crafting holidays. It could be because I'm something of a romantic and thoroughly enjoy a good dousing of the ultra feminine. You know,  lace, flowers, sheer floaty fabrics and gaudy (see: awesome) glittery hearts perched upon piles of chocolate in all varieties.  It sounds more like I'm describing a dream than a reality.  I've never been much for "reality" anyway.

That being said, lets enjoy an inspirational stroll through dream land and drown ourselves in love. Deal?

If this were in my house, it's certain I would never leave. Unless it were for more tea and cookies. This amazing creation was thought up by Justina Blakeney & can be found on one of my favorite inspirational sites, Designsponge which also includes instructions on how to create your own romantic snuggle tent.

Or how about re-creating this wonderful doily light garland I was thrilled to find over at Citified via Elena Kovyzina

I love the word "Free" don't you? Of course you do. Find these adorable templates created by Sweetmuffinsuite on her website + give them to everyone you know! Or at least the people you like.

Last, but certainly not least:
How about some "lace" heart pancakes? I know! Doesn't that sound rad?

Who wouldn't want to wake up to these?

FREE DOLCE VITA SHOES!

Friday, February 10, 2012

Alright, if the word free didn't fully get your attention, perhaps FREE Dolce Vita will. One of my favorite shoe brands has done the unthinkable (THANK YOU) and during the month of February will be giving away 1,000 pairs of perfect, stylish shoes. That's right - I said FREE. FREE FREE FREE. It really just feels good to say that word, especially in today's troubled economy.

I know this because: I won a pair! Now I'll be stalking the mailbox until they get here. Thanks, DV.

They'll be selecting a pair for each winner from their DV by Dolce Vita Collection and mailing them off, spreading joy to the world.

If you'd like to enter all you have to do is visit DOLCE VITA's Facebook page - "LIKE" them & enter your contact information on the contest page. Can you believe something so amazing could be so easy?

FASHION ON A FRIDAY

I found this great belt, but sadly it was an extra small. I couldn't pass up buying it, because, well - it was amazing. So I wore it anyway. Yeah.

TUESDAY TREND: ASYMMETRICAL HEMLINES

hemlines

I'm sure, being the stylish and sophisticated woman that you are, you've begun to notice the changing variety in hemlines as of late. Last year we saw the hemline fall to ankle lengths, with full length skirts and maxi dresses. A welcome change from the short, short days of yore.

Now lets say that a short flirty skirt and a stylishly draped full length had a baby... You'd end up with these beauties. The best of both worlds. You've heard them called Fish Tail skirts, Mullet Skirts, Asymmetrical Skirts and everything in between. What are they? Perhaps we'll never really know - Maybe some glorious product of Alien Technology, but they're so awesome that it doesn't even matter.

NASTYGAL Shiffon skirt, $58 NASTYGAL Skirt, $58 DELIAS Floral skirt, $40 Zara asymmetrical skirt, $50 Mason by Michelle Mason elastic waist skirt, $230 Aminaka Wilmont chiffon mini skirt, $535

BAKE UP SOME EARLY VALENTINES DAY FUN

VALENTINES DAY SUGAR COOKIE SANDWICHES

Oh, it's that time again. Valentines Day. I have mixed feelings like many - but in the end, my soft side always wins out and I'll end up in the spirit of love and gooey-ness. Since the love bug is hitting me earlier than usual, I thought I'd post some pre-valentines day DIY gift suggestions for those of you who are smart and thinking ahead. I say this because I'm a last minute girl and I've spent many a holiday scrambling around at the last given moment. BUT NOT THIS YEAR, DAMMIT.

The original recipe + concept for these cookies comes from the ever so delightful Epicurious, however I've decided to do a sugar cookie instead of a lemon cookie. ENJOY!

DIY NO SEW CRYSTAL LOCK CLOSURE PILLOW CASE LAPTOP BAG

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

I don't know about you, but I'm absolutely in love with this Ikat print. I was lucky enough to find this beauty at a local thrift store, a lonely pillow case in need of some love. Or some DIY love anyway.

I was feeling crafty, but too lazy to drag out all of my sewing equipment so I created this NO - SEW laptop bag. Useful and fabulous.

Below are the instructions but feel free to alter the design to your liking - if you added a thick lining to the bag, it could easily become a clutch!

PRICKLY + DELICATE

I can't make up my mind. Sometimes I want to be soft and sweet and lovely,  but really I'm just a tough broad who wants to slap on some metal and pop in some nose rings that hang down past my face. Lets appreciate both:
