NASHVILLE FASHION WEEK: FRIDAY NIGHT // VERSACE AT THE PARTHENON

LEXUS NASHVILLE FASHION WEEK NIGHT 5 // THE PARTHENON

WHITE RABBIT by Shea Steele,  Red Doll by Tatvana Merenvuk, G-Star, Katharine Kidd, Versace

The only fact brighter and more beautiful than Versace taking their time to show here in Nashville was the fact that the runway venue of choice was The Parthenon. For those of you who aren't locals, you should definitely check out the above link with photos of the architecture. And of course - the massive, golden statue of Athena tucked away inside.

The Parthenon is such a beautiful part of our city, and I'm so glad they included that beauty in this year's Fashion Week.

WHITE RABBIT BY SHEA STEELE
The party starter that night was WHITE RABBIT, which was a beautiful mix of textures and patterns combined with playful shapes that were also practical. It really was perfect RTW. It made me feel like I should be sitting in a garden, surrounded by roses and drinking strong tea.

RED DOLL by Tatyana Merenyuk

I'm just going to go ahead and say what everyone is thinking. Red Doll was a total show stopper. The only thing more delightful to look at than the collection itself, was the delighted faces of the audience as they watched each delicate piece float down the runway. And when I say float, it really was just like that! Every single piece looked light as air, perfectly put together. There was such a perfect blend of femininity combined with a fairy tale happiness, I can only childishly refer to as magic!

G-STAR had a great sophisticated / chic look. I really loved the autumn tones and snuggly fabrics. My favorite look was definitely the one donning the orange blazer. The cut alone was perfect, and although I've only recently become a fan of orange - this is the most beautiful color. It was also hard for me to not get distracted due to all the amazing footwear. Do I spy Jeffery Campbell?

Such a great variation in shapes and styles! I also liked the color palette - several shades of purples and blues. My favorite pieces were the two sequined dresses above. Perfect shape, perfect fabric, perfect everything. Of course the beauties wearing it were also perfect.

VERSACE! I'm so glad you made us all feel special. I'm also really glad we got to enjoy men's wear pieces as well as women's. The collection was what I'd consider typical Versace, using familiar pattern styles and simplistic shapes. The Men's wear was classic and quite sharp. I also saw a lot of great combat style above the ankle boots on the vast majority of all male models throughout the night, a great trend that's been catching on like wild fire.

Another highlight of my night, meeting fellow blogger and stylish sweetheart, CosmiCaroline (On right)

Keep checking back for Saturday Night's Fashion Finale.

NFW: RED CARPET RUNDOWN + NIGHT ONE

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to take photos for Nashville's Out and About Newspaper for Fashion Week. On top of that big bunch of awesome - I got to spend my time enjoying the shows with my best friend and O&A contributing writer, Codie Gentry. (Find her coverage of the week's events HERE and keep an eye out for them in O&A's April Issue.)

Although I only made it out for Tuesdays's kick off night, Friday night at the Parthenon & Saturday's closing night, three out of five isn't too bad! I met some amazing fellow bloggers who I've been stalking... I mean, admiring for quite some time, several extremely talented designers, and a wide array of fashionable style obsessed ladies (And men!). It's easy to say that this week was straight up awesome.

Local sweetheart VALENTINE VALENTINE by Amanda Valentine

I have to share my local love of Amanda Valentine, especially her use of Space Age-esque fabrics. I love how everything had dimension and texture. Not to mention her crop top designs, which thrilled me. I'm the biggest fan of cropped tops. Ever. Now if only I could get my hands on one of those brilliant iridescent skirts, my life would be perfect.

I was disappointed my camera decided to be unmanageable during the BYSMITH + T.Rains shows, so I only ended up with a few photos.

BySmith was simple and classic and had a lot of mass appeal. There were a lot of bright jewel toned colors and shimmering fabrics combined with basic shapes that could flatter nearly any body.

T.RAINS, who is also the former co-creator of Heatherettewas quite the visual experience, employing bright hair colors, sequins, full ball gowns and flashy men's wear. By flashy, I mean a lot of hot guys in speedos. No complaints here.

Since my photos were lacking for kick off night, you can check out the official NFW Photo Galleries for more.

NASHVILLE FASHION WEEK: TIM GUNN

Monday, March 26, 2012

Whatever your question may be in life,  the answer is always, always, "Make it work.

By keeping that in mind,  I somehow managed to pull myself out of my fashion week coma, induced by total style overload - to brave the rain and see everyone's style sweetheart, Tim Gunn. He's a magic 8 ball of style secrets.

Tim so graciously decided to join Nashville for its second Fashion Week by introducing several spring pieces from Kate Spade, Lucky Brand and Juicy Couture - runway style.

Not only did everyone get quite a show, as the clothes were perfectly on trend, but we enjoyed the wit, honesty and humor of Tim's tips. He covered topics varying from Men's wear, what style to wear for your body shape, and choosing colors that compliment your skin tone.

I'm so in love with this Kate Spade bag.

There were so many beautiful prints from Kate Spade!

They pulled an adorable member of the audience on stage to show off her beautiful Kate Spade jacket.

After the runway show Tim stuck around to take questions from the audience. He took questions from a few young girls, sharing their most pondered style inquiries. A chesty pair of ladies wanted to know what style was best for those who've got some boobz. Of course there were also the typical Project Runway questions, which Tim answered with ease while sharing his personal stories from the experience. Tim always impresses me with his kindness, honesty, genuine attitude and style. It made my heart happy to be able to see him!

It was a great day.
